What is PB&J
To some it’s an afternoon snack, to others it’s the only meal they’ll eat that week. PB&J is an initiative with one simple purpose – to help those that cannot help themselves. By using common ingredients found in the kitchen PB&J makes sandwiches for the hungry and homeless people of Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal. As one could probably gather from the name, Peanut Butter and Jam is the sandwich of choice as the ingredients are already in most peoples kitchens.
PB&J makes sandwiches and hands them out to the people who need them most. Those poor people who are not only homeless but hungry. Those that get chased away from car windows or are forced to dig in garbage bins for scraps to eat.
Why we do it?
With so much wrong in the world, making PB&J sandwiches for a few people might not seem like a life changing movement or initiative. But for those who are wanting to help their fellow man and do not have thousands of Rands in the bank, for those who want to help for the sake of change rather than ‘help’ for the sake of experience.
PB&J is about helping out without forking out. Rather than spending thousands of Rands on going abroad to volunteer in other African countries PB&J focuses on helping te local community by providing a simple yet needed service. – feeding people.
